Statement from the Office of Attorney General Luther Strange
Regarding Dissolution of Governor’s Task Force on Illegal
Gambling
(MONTGOMERY)– Governor Bentley today issued Executive Order Number 1
dissolving the Governor’s Task Force on Illegal Gambling. This action follows the plan
that Governor Bentley and Attorney General Strange previously announced. The
Governor’s Task Force is no longer necessary because Attorney General Strange, in
conjunction with other executive branch officials, will enforce Alabama’s gambling laws
as they are written and in strict accordance with the decisions of the Alabama Supreme
Court. As of today, Governor Bentley has transferred all pending Task Force cases to
the Attorney General’s Office. These cases will continue without interruption, under
the control and direction of Attorney General Strange.
