ATTORNEY GENERAL STRANGE STATEMENT ON NATIONAL
LAW ENFORCEMENT APPRECIATION DAY
(Montgomery) – Attorney General Luther Strange called on Alabamians to
take time today to say “thank you” to local law enforcement for their service to
protect our communities.
“Today is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day and I encourage
everyone to take a minute to thank a police officer for devoting their lives to
protecting our communities,” said Attorney General Strange.
“Their sworn oath to keep us safe comes at a high price. On average, a police
officer is killed in the line of duty every 58 hours in the United States.
Nationwide, 126 police officers lost their lives in 2014, including four here in
Alabama. On the Alabama Capitol grounds stands a memorial honoring our
fallen police officers, underscoring the important role of law enforcement in
keeping the peace. We can never thank them enough.”
