Attorney General Steve Marshall Applauds Supreme Court Decision
to Uphold Secure Election Laws

(MONTGOMERY) – Attorney General Steve Marshall issued the following statement about the U.S. Supreme Court ruling today in the cases of Brnovich v. Democratic National Committee and Arizona Republican Party v. Democratic National Committee:

“Today, the U.S. Supreme Court made clear that federal law does not bar commonsense election integrity laws. Arizonans had decided to bar suspect actions like ballot harvesting, and the Supreme Court upheld that provision and others in light of Arizona’s ‘strong and entirely legitimate state interest i[n] the prevention of fraud.’

“I applaud Arizona’s victory in this case – which was supported by Alabama and 16 other states – and I am grateful that the Court has upheld the rule of law.

“I look forward to continue doing all that I can to ensure that our elections are free, fair, and secure in Alabama and across the United States.”
