(Montgomery, Ala.) – Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall today announced his support for President Donald J. Trump’s commitment to restoring the rule of law in immigration policy. Attorney General Marshall joined a coalition of Republican attorneys general in signing a joint statement that highlights the critical need for strong border security measures and praises President Trump’s leadership in addressing the immigration crisis.

“Over the last four years, my colleagues and I have seen the rapid deterioration at the border which required us to step in with legal action. Our coalition is immensely grateful for President Trump’s dedication to securing our borders and reversing the failed policies of the Biden Administration that led to unprecedented levels of illegal immigration,” said Attorney General Marshall. “President Trump’s America First policies will once again ensure the safety and security of our nation.”

The joint statement outlines the Biden Administration’s weakening of border controls through executive actions and highlights the legal victories achieved by Republican attorneys general in response. These efforts include challenging policies that encouraged illegal immigration and successfully obtaining injunctions to protect U.S. laws.

The statement also applauds key elements of President Trump’s immigration plan, including:

  • Reinstating the “Remain in Mexico” policy to prevent waves of illegal immigration.
  • Finishing the border wall and ending the crisis at the southern border.
  • Stopping the abuse of immigration parole and issuing an executive order to address birthright citizenship concerns.
  • Rescinding unlawful programs, such as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
  • Enhancing state and local law enforcement collaboration through Section 287(g) agreements.

“President Trump’s policies resulted in historic lows in illegal immigration during his first term, and his victory in November shows that Americans trust him to restore order at the border,” said Marshall. “I stand with my Republican colleagues in pledging our full support to ensure these policies are implemented and upheld in the courts if necessary.”

Attorney General Marshall is joined by attorneys general from 20 other states, including Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, and Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill. Together, the coalition expresses confidence in President Trump’s leadership and reiterates their commitment to assisting the administration in its mission to secure the border and uphold the rule of law.
