(Montgomery, Ala.) – Attorney General Steve Marshall announced the conviction of a Jefferson County man on charges related to child pornography. Dustin Van Faulkner, 36, of Gardendale, pleaded guilty in Jefferson County Court to one count of dissemination of obscene matter depicting a person under the age of 17.
“Child exploitation has no place in our society and inflicts unimaginable pain and suffering upon the most vulnerable among us,” Attorney General Marshall said. “My office will continue to work with law enforcement across the state to identify, target, and prosecute these predators to the fullest extent of the law.”
Faulkner was sentenced to five years to serve in the Alabama Department of Corrections. After Faulkner has served his sentence and is released, Faulkner must immediately register as a sex offender and abide by all requirements of Alabama’s Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
Attorney General Marshall commended his Criminal Trials Division for its successful prosecution of this case, noting in particular, Assistant Attorney General Chenelle Smith, as well as the Cyber Crime Unit of the Attorney General’s Investigations Division.
