ATTORNEY GENERAL STEVE MARSHALL CRITICIZES ‘DEEPLY FLAWED’ FEDERAL COURT
INJUNCTION AGAINST TRUMP ADMINISTRATION EXECUTIVE ORDER
RESTRICTING ADMISSION OF INDIVIDUALS FROM HIGH RISK COUNTRIES
(MONTGOMERY) – Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall criticized a Maryland federal appeals
court decision Thursday not to lift its injunction against the Trump administration’s executive order to
temporarily restrict the admission of foreign nationals from six countries posing a security risk to the
United States.
“The Fourth Circuit’s decision to continue the injunction against the President’s executive order is deeply
flawed,” said Attorney General Marshall. “I agree with the dissenting opinion of Judge Dennis Shedd that
‘the real losers in this case are the millions of individual Americans whose security is threatened on a
daily basis by those who seek to do us harm.’ I will continue to support the administration in this litigation
as it makes it way to the United States Supreme Court.”
Alabama joined a multi-state amicus brief filed on March 27, 2017, in support of the Trump
administration’s executive order temporarily banning travel of foreign nationals from six countries with the
strongest record of terrorism: Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.
