AG ANNOUNCES CONVICTION FOR RAPE IN LIMESTONE COUNTY

(MONTGOMERY) – Attorney General Luther Strange announced the
conviction of an Athens man for two counts of second-degree rape of a minor girl
aged between 12 and 16 years old. Nathaniel James Harrison, 22, pleaded guilty
November 30 in Limestone County Circuit Court. The crimes occurred during
the summer of 2011.

Harrison was sentenced by Circuit Judge Robert Baker to 20 years for each
count, which was split for him to serve three years imprisonment followed by a
period of five years of probation. The sentences were ordered to be served
concurrently.

The Attorney General’s Office presented evidence to a Limestone County
grand jury, resulting in Harrison’s indictment on November 17. The case was
handled by the Attorney General’s Office at the request of Limestone County
District Attorney Brian Jones.

Attorney General Strange commended those who handled this
prosecution, noting in particular Assistant Attorneys General Ben Baxley and
Andrew Arrington of his Violent Crimes Division, and thanked the Limestone
County Sheriff’s Office.
