AG STRANGE ANNOUNCES ARREST OF FLORENCE ATTORNEY
DONALD TIPPER ON CHARGES OF RAPE AND SODOMY

(MONTGOMERY)–Attorney General Luther Strange announced the arrest
today of a Florence attorney on charges of first-degree rape and first-degree
sodomy. Donald Glenn Tipper, 65, surrendered today at the Lauderdale County
Detention Center and was released on $100,000 bond.
Attorney General Strange’s Criminal Trials Division presented evidence to a
Lauderdale County grand jury, resulting in Tipper’s indictment on February 1.
No further information about the investigation or about Tipper’s alleged
crimes other than that stated in the indictment may be released at this time.
If convicted, Tipper faces a maximum penalty of 10 years to 99 years or life
imprisonment for each of the charges, which are class A felonies.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant Attorneys General Bill Lisenby and
Stephanie Billingslea of the Attorney General’s Criminal Trials Division, and was
investigated by the Florence Police Department and Special Agents of the Attorney
General’s Investigations Division.
