AG STRANGE ANNOUNCES COURT OF CRIMINAL APPEALS
UPHOLDS MOBILE COUNTY MURDER CONVICTION

(MONTGOMERY) – Attorney General Luther Strange announced that the
Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals on Friday upheld the murder conviction of John
Christopher Henderson. Henderson, 27, of Mobile, was convicted in November of 2015
of the murder of his son, a minor identified as C. H.

Evidence was presented at trial that on March 18, 2014, Henderson violently and
repeatedly punched his 23-month-old son, C.H., in the abdomen and that C.H. died as a
result of his injuries.

The case was prosecuted at trial by Mobile County District Attorney Ashley Rich’s
office. Henderson was sentenced to 99 years’ imprisonment for his murder conviction.
He subsequently sought to have his conviction reversed on appeal.

The Attorney General’s Criminal Appeals Section handled the case during the
appeals process, arguing for the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals to affirm the
conviction. The Court did so in a decision issued on Friday, October 14.

Attorney General Strange commended Assistant Attorney General Ferris
Stephens of the Attorney General’s Criminal Appeals Section for his successful work in
this case.
