PLEASANT GROVE POLICE OFFICER FOR FORGERY AND PERJURY
(MONTGOMERY)–Attorney General Steve Marshall announced the arrest of
a former Pleasant Grove police officer for multiple counts of forgery as well as
perjury. Lawrence Harrell Jr., 47, of Birmingham, surrendered to the Jefferson
County Sheriff’s Department last week and was released on a total of $60,000 bond.
Attorney General Marshall’s Criminal Trials Division presented evidence to a
Jefferson County grand jury resulting in Harrell’s indictment* on October 20.
Specifically, the indictment charges Harrell with 11 counts of second-degree forgery
of traffic citations and one count of perjury.
No further information about the investigation or about Harrell’s alleged
crimes other than that stated in the indictment may be released at this time.
If convicted, Harrell faces a maximum penalty of one year and one day to ten
